Slow Foods: Flour Comes from Wheat

Today we learned that flour comes from wheat, specifically the seed which is the top of the wheat grass. Flour is in SO much of the food that we eat! Cookies, cakes, noodles and more!

Slow Foods: Popcorn

After we made designs with popcorn seeds, or kernels, we taste tested popcorn using different flavorings. We tried garlic, lemon pepper, cinnamon, curry powder, dill weed, and more!  

Try making some popcorn at home using kernels- healthier, cheaper, and more delicious!  







Author's Study

This week,we started our Author's Study! Student partners choose a popular children's author and checked out 3 books of their choice by that author. Students are going to study that author's style and bibliography. They will then present the information they learned to the class on a PowerPoint presentation. Slow Foods: Where do eggs come from?

Eggs don't just come from chickens! They also can come from ducks, quail, ostriches, and other birds that lay eggs. Although, we get most of the eggs we eat from chickens.
