Learning about Authors
With your partner, choose one of the famous authors from the list below. You will research the author's books and life by clicking on the links under your author's name. Later, you will use the information you learned to create a powerpoint presentation to the class and then again use that information to write an informational essay on your author.Have fun!
Steps:
1. Choose your author with your partner
2. With your classroom, go to library
3. Check out 2-3 books by your author
4. Read your books and complete author's study organizer
5. Research the life of your author and record information you learned on graphic organizer
6. Organize information learned about your author into Power Point with the slides:
- Slide One: Title Page
+contains name of your author, picture of author, your and your partner's names
- Slide Two: summary of Book #1
+ in the summary, make sure to include the characters and setting
- Slide Three: Author's Craft and Theme of Book #1
- Slide Four: summary of Book #2
+ in the summary, make sure to include the characters and setting
- Slide Five: Author's Craft and Theme of Book #2
- Slide Six: summary of Book #3
+ in the summary, make sure to include the characters and setting
- Slide Seven: Author's Craft and Theme of Book #3
- Slide 9: Author's Life: what 3 facts did you learn about the author?
- Slide 10: How do you think the author's life impacts their writing?
